WHAT IS MAKING THAT NOISE IN SOUTHERN PINES & PINEHURST?
N.C. Sellers Must Disclose Proximity to Bases
Home buyers in North Carolina now have to be warned when they are buying property close to a military base where there might be noise from artillery fire or aircraft.

This addition to the state’s real estate disclosure form takes effect July 1. Even if sellers check the “no representation” box to avoid answering any of the questions, real estate practitioners will be require by law to inform potential buyers of nearby military bases.

David Evans, president of the Fayetteville Regional Association of REALTORS®, which has Fort Bragg in its backyard, says state legislators got involved after some newcomers to the state were surprised at the amount of noise emanating from military bases.

"We're happy with it. We don't want anybody to not realize they're near one of the largest bases in the world," Evans said.
